Christmas day was great. We started with waking up around 7 or so, had Afton open her presents from us, and then Jacob and myself opened our presents to each other. I made breakfast and then we lounged around the house. It started to snow around this time too. Jacob installed the new carseat from his parents into his truck and then also installed the cd/ipod player under the kitchen cabinets he bought me. I got him a pair of shoes, two VT shirts, and a VT hat. My parents came over around 3pm to give Afton of FEW of her presents and a huge froggy toybox for all of her new stuff. Then we went to my sisters for Christmas dinner. My brother-in-laws family and a few family friends joined us. We left around 7pm so Afton could go to bed and I had to work the next day at 7am. I got a phone call at 9:01pm from my sister saying that our parents were in a bad accident but she didn't know much. I immediately ran into the living room to tell Jacob and began hysterically crying that they hit ice, went into the ditch, hit a tree and flipped there suv twice and were hanging upside in the car. I called to work telling that I would not be in the next day since they were in an accident. We were then waiting for my sis to call back with more info, so Jacob called his parents to tell them and say we might bring afton over, who was asleep. My sis called back and said that the ambulance was at the site and would be taken them to a local ER. So Jacob, Afton, and myself made the trip to the local ER in the snowy weather. Luckily we got there safely and so did my sis and her family. We all got there before the ambulance and waiting the waiting room. About 30 mins or so my dad came out and said he was fine and mom took all of the impact. The airbags never deployed and she hit her head. Luckily by the grace of God (and that's what helped them) she only has a concussion and hematoma to her head. She had a CT of her head and x-ray of her arm (she thought she broke it) but it was negative. We left around 12am, and they went to stay with my sis. The car is totaled but PTL there alive.
So who can't say that it was a miracle that they were able to get out of the car (with lots of help, emts and what not) and walk away. And the whole time she was in the Er she was worried about of the christmas presents she had in the back of the car.
Praise God for his grace, mercy, and watchfulness over my family that night!!
Definitely a Christmas we won't forget!!!
